Zurich hires CNA’s Bernard and The Hartford’s Zabikow in middle market push
Zurich is reshaping its middle market team, with Jon Zabikow arriving from The Hartford as head of technology and manufacturing and Bill Fahy promoted from middle market underwriting manager to head of private equity.
The three executives will report to John Mizzi, who became head of industry practices at Zurich in December after a year at Blackboard, the InsurTech AIG put into run-off in the spring.
Bernard was previously an assistant vice president and commercial lines officer at CNA in Baltimore, while Zabikow was managing director and head of technology and life sciences at The Hartford in Chicago.
In a further set of promotions, Zurich has named Jeff Barnes as head of property underwriting in its middle market division. Barnes was previously US middle market regional vice president for the south.
Susan Gordon has been picked as US middle market head of casualty underwriting, having previously been technical director, and Kim Jordan becomes interim regional vice president for the south region, having been a regional underwriting manager. Barnes, Gordon and Jordan all report to Lynn Zeitler, head of underwriting.
Jim Heintz has moved from being a senior middle market underwriter and team lead to becoming interim underwriting manager in Dallas, reporting to Jordan.
