AIG hires BHSI’s Fahey to lead private non-profit D&O book in North America

AIG has appointed Bill Fahey as head of management liability for private non-profit business in North America.

He joins the business from Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI), where he was a senior vice president and US leader of corporate management liability business.

Fahey’s departure is the latest in a line of personnel changes in the management liability market, where rates and demand for cover is surging. It also follows an exodus of senior D&O underwriting talent from both AIG and BHSI.

In December last year, Inside P&C revealed that management liability executives Brady Head and Shelley Norman had followed AIG’s former head of North America financial lines Anthony Tatulli to BHSI.

The trio filled the gap left at BHSI by the departure of Dan Fortin and Todd Greeley, who joined QBE North America along with four other underwriters.

Fahey previously joined BHSI in 2015, and prior to this held senior underwriting roles at Zurich North America, The Hartford and Gulf Insurance Company, according to LinkedIn.

In a statement, AIG said: “We are pleased to welcome Will Fahey as the head of management liability for private non-profit for North America.”

“Will brings over 25 years of industry experience and will oversee our D&O liability, EPLI, fiduciary, Fidelity and K&R product portfolios for private and non-profit organizations.”

In December, this publication reported that primary D&O underwriters in both the private and public markets have imposed new restrictions on the coverage they write in recent months, and are achieving pricing increases of at least 20% – even on accounts with a clean loss history.
