CAC Specialty makes six hires to natural resources team

CAC Specialty has expanded its natural resources division with six new hires from brokers and carriers including Energy and Marine Risk Services, Willis Towers Watson, Scott Insurance and Aon.

Robert Carvell, Michael Ford, Anna Anderson, Josh Jakubowski, John Hohlt and Justin Treat join the specialist broker, which launched its natural resources division in September with Gary King as chairman of the operation.

Other hires late last year within natural resources include Lisa Harris, an inaugural hire alongside King, Fred Smith, Pete Krouse, Lloyd Wills, Lindsay Carl and Tony Nguyen.

The recent appointments, coupled with the legacy Cobbs Allen energy team, “present a compelling group of seasoned and highly motivated professionals that will deliver market leading results for our clients” according to CAC’s Josh Kirklin, who is EVP of oil and gas within the natural resources team.

Carvell will be senior vice president of its risk and project management division for the natural resources team in Houston. He was previously vice president of risk and project management with Energy and Marine Risk Services for nearly four years.

Ford takes on the role of senior vice president of the mining division and will be based in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was senior vice president at Willis Towers Watson for more than 11 years and before that he worked at Wells Fargo Insurance in their energy group for nearly four years.

Anderson joins as senior account manager in the Knoxville team, and brings more than a decade of experience. She was previously at Scott Insurance as a commercial analyst for just over two years and before that worked at Willis Towers Watson for over six years.

Jakubowski will also be based in Knoxville and will be vice president of claims for the mining division. He was a senior claims consultant with Willis Towers Watson for over four years and before that was with Ruby Insurance for nearly eight years.

Hohlt will be based in Houston and will be a senior vice president of surety for the natural resources team. He was a principal at Epic Insurance Brokers for nearly two years and before that he was a surety bond broker at Marsh for nearly four years.

Treat joins the business as a producer for the Houston natural resources team. He was previously an assistant vice president and account executive at Aon for its energy group for around five years. Before that was a broker consultant for Gallagher for just over four years.

CAC Specialty natural resources chairman King said: “We are focused on ensuring that all our new partners are aligned with our vision and our corporate culture both of which are focused on delivering exceptional results for our clients.

“We expect to make significant further investments in 2021 in all the verticals of our natural resources practice group including oil & gas, power & renewables, mining and surety.”

According to its website the natural resources team specializes in midstream risks such as pipelines and trucking, as well as upstream risks that include exploration, production and contractors. It also has expertise in mining and metals.
