HCI Group has had early success in convincing investors it should be re-rated to reflect its status as the proud parent of an InsurTech, rather than merely a Floridian insurance company.

The move by Centerbridge to plough $100mn into a 12% stake in TypTap sent the shares soaring by 28% yesterday, taking gains for the year to 42%, with a number of peers essentially flat since year-end.
