The total value of US and Bermuda insurance M&A in Q1 2021 increased 109% to $40.55bn in Q1 2021, driven by a flurry of deals in the life and annuities sector, according to data from S&P Market Intelligence.

S&P’s baseline scenario assumes AIG opts for an initial public offering of its life and retirement business and The Hartford remains independent.
