The American Property and Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) has warned that action by Washington state’s regulator over the use of credit scoring data could raise the cost of insurance for over a million policyholders in the state.

In a statement on Thursday, the industry body slammed the action as an “abuse of authority” by the insurance commissioner and said it would hit businesses and consumers working together on long-term economic recovery.
