Root loss ratio drops 22 points to 71% in Q1

Auto insurer Root’s loss ratio dropped 21.9 points in Q1 to 70.9%, in a sign that the loss ratio is on the road to improvement after a challenging start to life for the InsurTech as a public company.

The carrier made an operating loss of $94.3mn during the three-month period, down from a loss of $99.9mn during the first quarter of 2020.
