Winter storm claims push Lemonade Q1 loss ratio to 120%

Lemonade posted a net operating loss of $49mn in Q1, compared with a net loss of $36.5mn in the same period last year, after the winter storms in Texas caused a year’s worth of claims in just a few days.

The company said the winter weather pushed its loss ratio up 48 points to 120%. Lemonade recorded a loss per share of $0.81,
