Aon CEO Greg Case has said he is “confident” Aon could have beaten the US Department of Justice (DoJ) in court over its merger with Willis Towers Watson, despite the brokers having announced the termination of the deal this morning.

In a speech sent to Aon colleagues following the announcement of the deal’s failure, the executive said the DoJ’s stance was “remarkably out of step” with those of other global regulators and that the proposed timeline prevented the brokers...
