Brookfield Asset Management Reinsurance Partners is to acquire American National in an all-cash deal valued at about $5.1bn.

Inside P&C revealed in May that the Galveston, Texas-based insurer had been placed up for sale, as the majority-owning Moody family looked to sell out.
