Dangerous storm surges and heavy rainfall are expected to strike the Florida Panhandle later today as Tropical Storm Fred closes down on the US mainland.

Storm surge warnings are in effect from Indian Pass to Yankeetown, while a tropical storm warning has been implemented along the coast of the Panhandle from Navarre to the Wakulla/Jefferson County line.
