Short interest: Root and Lemonade pressure intensifies

A3 days to cover as of.jpg

FINRA released its latest short interest report yesterday afternoon, which includes short interest data through August 13. The two-week period follows second-quarter earnings, with Root ending the earnings season with its August 12 report. So this data gives a good indication of how investors continue to feel about various insurance sub-sectors, including massive selloffs seen in the InsurTech space.

Extending the trend documented in previous reports, InsurTechs continue to earn the most short interest attention.

Root and Lemonade are once again the highest shorted insurance stocks by a large margin, with short interest of 40.4%
