Aspen swung back to an operating profit of $88.9mn in the first half of 2021 as the carrier began to reap the rewards of extensive portfolio remediation.

The profits compared to an operating loss of $49.0mn in the prior-year period, when the carrier was hit heavily by $187mn of Covid-19 claims.
