Strong winds expected to add fuel to Caldor Fire

Favourable conditions over the weekend helped firefighters make progress in battling the Caldor Fire’s eastern side, but strong southwest winds are expected to pick up throughout the week, which will make taming the fire more difficult.

The fire, which ignited on 14 August near Omo Ranch in El Dorado County, east of Sacramento, had burned 219,267 acres and was 65% contained as of Sunday evening.
