US commercial rate increases taper in Q2 to 6% from 8% in Q1: Willis

US commercial lines rate increases slowed in the second quarter to roughly 6%, down from 8% in the first quarter, according to broker Willis Towers Watson, confirming a trend of slowing rate gains suggested by other industry data.

Without providing specific data points, Willis’ report said that nearly all lines of business saw significant price increases, with the greatest level of rate gains coming in the excess/umbrella liability lines.
