One80 Intermediaries, the Boston-based program management arm of the retail broker Risk Strategies, has named industry veteran Edward Lopes its chief operating officer.

Lopes spent nearly 13 years as regional executive at Zurich North America’s east region. Previously, he was the northeast regional president with AIG for more than a decade.

As COO, Lopes will focus on the integration of business acquisitions and on One80's IT platforms.

Since its launch two years ago, One80 has grown, largely through acquisition, to more than 35 offices in the US and Canada.

Among its purchases were specialist cannabis and hemp wholesale broker and MGA Cannasure Insurance Services; MGA Edward E Hall & Company, which focuses on the automotive sector; and program administrator Corieri.

Matthew Power, One80 president, said: "Having worked with Ed for several years during our respective tenures at AIG, I have had the benefit of knowing what a talented and accomplished insurance executive he is and know he will contribute greatly to One80's continued success.”

Lopes said: "I have observed One80's accelerated growth over the past two years and have been extremely impressed with the diverse product suite that has been built, the top-tier talent that the organization has attracted, and the market access One80 has successfully achieved.”
