Upward pressure on ceding commissions for casualty and professional liability quota shares has accelerated at the current renewal, with ceding commissions rising by around two points in many cases and as high as four points in isolated major deals.

Momentum for higher commissions has gained steam since last year, when one-point rises were much more common. Broking and underwriting sources have discussed a new benchmark being established for well-performing portfolios.
