Ransomware attacks spike to new peak in December

December was the busiest month of 2021 for ransomware attacks, as hackers targeted school districts, tech companies, government agencies and a host of others, including car manufacturer Volvo and popular photo service Shutterfly.

Cybersecurity firm BlackFog said there were 33 publicly reported ransomware attacks in last December, more than double the 15 in November and the most for any month of the year, topping April’s 31 attacks.
