Calfire investigators have determined that last year’s Dixie Fire – the second largest in California’s history – was caused by a tree contacting electrical distribution lines owned and operated by Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and located west of Cresta Dam.

PG&E told investors on 1 November that it expects to recover $569mn from its insurers on a potential $1.15bn
