US cybercrime complaints jump 7% in 2021, as potential losses top $6.9bn: FBI

The FBI's Internet Crime Complain Center received a record 847,376 complaints about cybercrime during the year, up 7% from 2020, with potential losses exceeding $6.9bn, according to a recent report.

In its 2021 Internet Crime Report, the agency said that the US experienced “an unprecedented increase in cyberattacks and malicious cyber activity,” targeting both businesses and individuals in every state and territory.
