Buffett rejected Alleghany request to increase $850-per-share offer

Alleghany chairman Jefferson Kirby attempted to persuade Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett to increase his $850-per-share offer for the company but was refused, according to official documents.

Last month, Berkshire agreed to buy Alleghany in an $11.6bn transaction, in which the buyer will pay $848.02 per share for the business, equating to a multiple of 1.26
