Markel has announced that its co-CEO Richard Whitt plans to retire by March 31, 2023.

After Whitt’s retirement, co-CEO Tom Gayner will become CEO, responsible for holding company strategy and oversight of Markel's three segments of insurance, investments and Markel Ventures.
