IGI’s 20.1-point reserve release fuels 12.4-point CoR improvement to 72.2% in Q1

IGI booked a $17.5mn favorable reserve development, or 20.1 points, fueling a 12.4-point improvement in the Bermuda-based carrier’s combined ratio to 72.2% in the first quarter.

The reserve development was mainly driven by improvements in claims experience in nearly all lines of business, in both the long-tail and short-tail segments, IGI said.
