Assurant has disclosed the successful placement of more than $1bn of reinsurance coverage, claiming to mitigate the pricing impact in the wider market thanks to strong relationships with reinsurers.

The carrier’s US program provides $1.16bn of coverage in excess of a $80mn retention per event, limiting its exposure against severe weather and other hazards.
