Covéa CEO Thierry Derez has replaced PartnerRe's Brian Dowd as chairman of PartnerRe's board of directors in connection with the close of the recent EUR7.9bn ($7.94bn) acquisition.

Former Chubb executive Dowd will remain on the board as an independent director, along with other independent directors Mary Ann Brown, Hermann Pohlchristoph and PartnerRe president and CEO Jacques Bonneau.
