Arch Q2 CoR improves 2.7 points to 77.1% as reserve releases offset higher cat losses

Arch Capital has improved its combined ratio by 2.7 points to 77.1% as reserve releases in its (re)insurance and mortgage segments outweighed higher cat activity and expenses during the second quarter of the year.

The Bermuda-based (re)insurer booked total favorable reserve releases of $166.6mn in Q2, up from $64.8mn a year earlier, and recorded $82.4mn
