Hurricane Andrew today would cause insured losses of $60bn+: Swiss Re

If Hurricane Andrew were to hit the coastal regions of Florida today, insured losses would be at least $60bn, nearly four times the $15.5bn borne by carriers 30 years ago, according to Swiss Re.

In August 1992, Andrew hit the coasts of the Bahamas all the way up to the Gulf Coast. It was one of the three hurricanes in US history that had Category-five intensity upon landfall.
