Markel Corporation has hired Chris Belvedere from Sompo International to serve as senior director, retail business development.

The industry veteran will oversee national business development, with a particular focus on retail.

He joined Sompo last year as a vice president and regional underwriting executive for the New York metro area, according to his LinkedIn profile.
