US-Bermudian reinsurers' FY22 profitability to decline amid market volatility: AM Best

While US-Bermudian reinsurers have benefitted from significant rate hikes in key business lines, inflation and capital market volatility may hinder the sector’s performance in 2022 – making it difficult for reinsurers to match their overall profitability in 2021, AM Best said.

In 2021, reinsurers showed improved performance, driven by wider underwriting margins, and a larger contribution from investment gains, the ratings agency said in a recent report.
