United Property & Casualty Insurance (UPC) has signalled it will pull out of personal lines in Florida, Texas, Louisiana and New York, owing to “significant uncertainty around the future availability of reinsurance” after it was downgraded earlier this month.

Demotech downgraded UPC’s financial stability rating by two notches to “M” from “A” on 1 August.

UPC said today it had been notified that Demotech was going to withdraw UPC’s rating altogether.
