State Farm strikes $100mn settlement over false Katrina claims

State Farm has ended a years-long dispute with two whistleblowers over the alleged mishandling of flood insurance claims related to Hurricane Katrina.

With the settlement, the company’s subsidiary State Farm Fire and Casualty agreed to pay $100mn in restitution to the federal government and to end the counterclaims it had filed against the whistleblowers in the case.
