Hurricane Fiona batters Dominican Republic after causing Puerto Rico blackout

Hurricane Fiona reached the Dominican Republic on Monday, after dropping heavy rains and causing a territory-wide power outage in Puerto Rico that will take days to fully restore.

According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), the tropical cyclone made its first landfall on the southwestern coast of Puerto Rico at 15:20 on Sunday.
