Hurricane Ian’s track shifts towards Port Charlotte as it approaches Florida

Hurricane Ian, as it approaches the west coast of Florida, appears to be shifting further southwards away from Tampa Bay and is now expected to make landfall just south of Port Charlotte and north of Cape Coral and Fort Myers.

The significant southward shift in Ian’s trajectory – which has moved from Tampa Bay and St Petersburg to south of Sarasota, where there is a much lower concentration of insured values – will be welcome news for the industry.
