Hurricane Ian maintains wind speeds of 155 mph as it approaches Florida

Hurricane Ian is approaching Florida’s west coast with sustained winds of 155 mph, just below Category 5, although it is expected to weaken when it makes landfall this afternoon.

The storm is currently 45 miles from Naples and about 50 miles southwest of Punta Gorda, Florida, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said in its 11:00 ET update.
