AM Best has changed the long-term issuer outlook for American Family Mutual Insurance Company (AmFam) and its affiliates to negative from stable. The ratings agency also affirmed the financial strength rating at "A" or excellent.

The outlook for AmFam's affiliate NGM Insurance's $70mn 7.25% 20-year surplus notes has also been revised to negative from stable.
