UPC projects $1bn in Ian losses, $16mn in reinstatement premiums

United Insurance Holdings (UPC Insurance) has estimated that it will incur a gross loss of $1bn from Hurricane Ian and $16mn of reinstatement premiums.

The insurer has received roughly 19,000 claims to date and estimates it will receive 27,000 to 30,000 claims.

For the third quarter ended September 30, UPC expects Ian cat losses of roughly $36.4mn
