Total economic losses related to Hurricane Ian could exceed $100bn, Gallagher Re noted in a report based on insured loss estimates from cat modelers and initial loss data published by Florida’s Office of Insurance Regulation.

This would make Ian not only one of the costliest US hurricanes on record, but one of the costliest natural hazard events, regardless of peril, in the US, the report reads.
