Allstate expects $366mn in pre-tax net Ian losses, passes $305mn to reinsurers

Personal lines heavyweight Allstate has estimated $671mn in pre-tax cat losses related to Hurricane Ian, excluding NFIP, offset by $305mn in reinsurance recoveries and ultimately bringing the carrier’s net hit to $366mn.

The insurer estimated September pre-tax net cat losses at $440mn, with approximately 80% of losses related to Ian and excluding National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) losses.
