US state insurance regulators rebuff Treasury Department climate data call

The US National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has branded a US Treasury Department initiative for a country-wide climate data call on property and casualty insurers as “a missed opportunity to work collaboratively”.

The aim of the proposed call would be to collect granular data from primary insurers about the US homeowners’ market with a view to better understanding the impacts of climate change on affordability.
