Florida cat fund extension targeted at low reinsurance layers

The proposed new Florida Optional Reinsurance Assistance (FORA) program will be targeted at underlying reinsurance layers alongside the remnants of this year’s Reinsurance to Assist Policyholders (RAP) program.

The $1bn FORA scheme was outlined in new bills that are being debated in Florida’s legislature this week, which also propose wide ranging reforms including the abolition of assignment of benefits schemes and one-way attorney fees.
