AmTrust builds US cyber team with Batt and Ingrassia hires

AmTrust has continued expanding its US cyber unit by appointing Jeffrey Batt and Michelle Ingrassia as vice presidents.

Batt will oversee cyber strategy and innovation at the carrier. He joins from M&T Bank, where he led the institution’s cyber insurance practice. Previously, he was a vice president in Marsh’s cyber practice, and between 2010 and 2016 was associate deputy general counsel at the US Department of Defense.

Ingrassia joins from Beazley, where most recently she was an attorney for its cyber and tech division. Previously, she worked with the Falcigno Group in Connecticut. In the new job at AmTrust, Ingrassia will have a product oversight role.

The duo will join AmTrust’s head of cyber, Aaron Basilius, who joined the business in July last year, after leaving Munich Re.

This publication revealed the appointment of Basilius, as well as his replacement at Munich Re, former senior Marsh executive Bob Parisi.

The appointments follow several recent personnel changes in the cyber market amid a surge in rates and demand for coverage.

Commenting on the new hires, Basilius said: “In the last year, with cyber attacks and data breaches on the rise, we have seen the demand for cyber insurance grow dramatically, especially in AmTrust’s core small business market.

“We are delighted that Jeffrey and Michelle have joined our growing team as we build out AmTrust’s cyber insurance offerings."
