Oneglobal launches Bermudian unit with RFIB’s Douglas
Recently rebranded broker Oneglobal has appointed former RFIB executive Craig Douglas to run its new Bermudian unit.
Douglas spent two and a half years at RFIB as executive vice president of its Bermuda operation, prior to which he was a casualty partner at JLT for over eight years.
He has also worked for Miller, Willis and Heath Lambert during his 24 years in the insurance industry.
Douglas will be executive director of Oneglobal Bermuda and report to group CEO Mike Reynolds.
Oneglobal has also hired former JLT executive Kilian Whelan as COO of the Bermuda operation.
Whelan worked for JLT for almost two decades, in a variety of roles including president, then CEO and later chairman of JLT Insurance Management, the intermediary’s captive division.
The launch of the Bermuda unit comes after Oneglobal established branches in Singapore in November and Hong Kong in August.
Oneglobal is backed by JC Flowers and was relaunched in June last year, jettisoning its former name, SSL Endeavour.
Reynolds said: “Opening our Bermuda office is a statement of our intent to continue the expansion of Oneglobal’s international presence and to continue the growth of our business.
“Bermuda is a key insurance market for us and we are pleased to be launching here and adding Craig and Kilian to the Oneglobal team.”
Douglas said: “Bermuda is not just a key international insurance and reinsurance market, but a gateway to better serve North American clients and local US brokers that need international market access.”
