Insurance agents in Texas funneled a record $509.5mn of premiums into the excess and surplus lines (E&S) market in February, an increase of 1.3% on the same month last year, according to data from the Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas (SLTX).

Stamping offices collect data on the E&S market in various states, providing a snapshot of local market conditions.

SLTX noted that the diminished increase was a result of the devastating winter storm that struck the state in mid-February.
