Stone Ridge’s NYDIG has appointed Mike Sapnar to the new role of global head of insurance solutions as the bitcoin subsidiary concluded a $100mn fundraising round with support from P&C carriers including Starr Insurance and Liberty Mutual.

The service provider is banking its growth strategy on building partnerships with insurers keen to offer clients the option for bitcoin payouts after the cryptocurrency has shot up in value over the past year.
