AIG’s general insurance (GI) unit reported a $73mn underwriting profit in the first quarter, as the business improved its underlying loss ratio by 1.6 points and cut underwriting costs in the first three months of the year.
AIG reported companywide adjusted operating income of $1.05 a share, a big uplift from last year’s $0.12 in earnings.
