Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon has ordered insurance companies to honor expenses incurred by policyholders who filed claims as a result of evacuating from Hurricane Ida.

The storm made landfall in Louisiana as a Category 4 hurricane on August 29 with intense rain and storm surge, knocking out the power grid for nearly one million people before moving north.
