A federal judge in Missouri last week denied Cincinnati Insurance Company’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a Kansas City restaurant seeking to recover losses resulting from the pandemic-related lockdown, allowing the case to go to trial.

The ruling was a rare setback for the industry after a long string of wins for carriers hit by suits seeking coverage for coronavirus-driven losses.
