US inflation bounces again as supply chain snarls and pandemic disrupt markets

Inflation in the US surged again in September, sending consumer prices up 5.4% from a year ago, as snarled global supply chains and the pandemic continued to disrupt the marketplace. The results cut short any hope that a dip in the rate of increase in August was the start of an easing trend.
