McGriff taps Marsh’s Nicholas as SVP of energy and marine division
Truist-owned retailer McGriff has hired Tony Nicholas as a senior vice president and producer in its Houston-based energy and marine division.
Prior to joining McGriff, Nicholas worked as a managing director at Marsh, where he specialized in marine and energy risks for upstream and midstream clients, marine terminal operators, oilfield services companies, utility contractors, engineering firms and energy-focused private equity firms.
The executive also brings on M&A experience from both the buy-side and sell-side and has developed several international insurance programs.
In September, McGriff announced it was splitting the chief executive role left vacant by the departure of former CEO Rick Ulmer between long-time McGriff veterans Read Davis and Renee Keen.
Ulmer then launched legal proceedings against the company in the Florida courts over its attempts to block him from taking up a position at Alliant Underwriting Solutions (AUS).
Earlier in May, the retail broker launched a digital, data and analytics center of excellence, the culmination of a two-year project aimed at improving the client experience and delivering new products.
In January, McGriff promoted Patrick Dessauer to lead its Western region.
