WR Berkley names former Farmers exec Henle president of its Union Standard business
WR Berkley has hired John Henle as president of Union Standard Insurance Group (Union Standard). Henle is taking over for Keith Mitchell, who has been named chairman of Union Standard.
Both appointments are effective immediately.
Henle has over 20 years of multi-line experience, and he most recently served as president of district operations for John Henle District Manager, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He also worked at Farmers Insurance for 12 years, where he was last senior vice president and head of distribution.
Commenting on the appointments, president and CEO of W. Robert Berkley, Jr. said: "Keith has been instrumental in positioning Union Standard on a continuing trajectory for success. We thank him for his many years of service and significant contributions to our Company and are grateful that he will continue to be a part of our team.”
“John is clearly a proven leader who brings a tremendous skill set to the organization. We are confident that John and the Union Standard team will continue to build upon the business’s strong foundation,” Berkley added.
Similarly, in October, the specialty carrier appointed Daniel Smyrl president of its subsidiary Admiral Insurance Group. The executive succeeded Curtis Fletcher, who was named chairman of Admiral and stepped into a more advisory role.
In July, Berkley named Argo’s David Higgins president for its inland marine business.
Earlier in June, it recruited Chubb’s Michelle Middleton to serve as president of Berkley Mid-Atlantic Group.
